Larson Electronics’ service pit lighting is engineered specifically for vehicle service pits. The type of work carried out in a garage directly determines what service pit lighting products are compatible. Not sure what is appropriate for your garage? Check out our light categories below.
Service Pit Lighting Categories:
Explosion Proof Class 1, Division 1 Pit Lights
An “explosion proof “classification means that the housing of the lighting fixture has been engineered to contain flashes or explosions – caused by flammable gases or vapors – within the fixture itself. It also must operate at a temperature that will not ignite the surrounding flammable atmosphere.
Hazardous Area Class 1, Division 2 Pit Lights
In Hazardous Class 1 Division 2 locations, flammable liquids and gases are normally confined in closed systems, only escaping in the event of accidental breakdowns. Lighting for these areas are built to protect against ignition from accidental leakage.
Unclassified Industrial Pit Lights
Unclassified industrial pits are in general area garages that do not require hazardous or explosion proof, Class 1 Division 1 and 2 fixtures. Lights in these pits are generally used for increased visibility.
Industrial and Vapor Proof Portable Service Pit Lights
Industrial and vapor proof portable service pit lights are used in pits where corrosive and harmful vapors may be present that could damage the lighting, but hazardous or explosion proof Class 1, Division 1 and 2 ratings are not required. These fixtures are compact and ideal for detailed work or inspections.
Automotive service pit lighting depends on the needs and business requirements of the repair garage. At Larson Electronics we have developed exceptional lighting options for each of these pit service categories, ensuring you get exactly what you need for your garage.
