When determining which type and color strobe light to install in a commercial or industrial setting for a specific application, it is helpful to know what strobe lights are actually used for, how they’re used and what colors comply with the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
In commercial and industrial settings, strobe lights are used for signals and as warnings in hazardous locations. The light intensity and color are specific to different areas and warning types. For example, the 2010 edition of the NFPA 72 states that strobes used for mass notification systems (MNS) must be clear in color. However, military organizations are required to use amber strobe lights for visible signaling.
At Larson Electronics, we carry a variety of U.L. rated explosion proof strobe lights in different colors for use in hazardous commercial and industrial locations. Our durable strobe lights come in various voltage configurations, including 120V AC 60Hz, 277V AC, 24V DC, 12V DC, 120 – 240 Volts AC 50/60hz and more. Although red and amber strobes are most common, we offer lights that come in a variety of colors, including red, amber, green, blue, purple, white and clear for any emergency lighting application or need.
