Low voltages are extremely safe – but it doesn’t mean you’re limited to using 12V or 24V.
At the moment, numerous industries use 48V to power their equipment. Initially, the military and telecom stations pioneered the use of 48V. Today, that list has grown to include the following:
- Data center servers
- Private vehicles
- Industrial emergency vehicles
- Portable equipment (powered by 48V batteries)
- …and more
In the automotive sector, IHS Automotive analysts predict 48V systems to power up to 95 percent of mild hybrid cars and up to 50 percent of full-hybrid vehicles by 2025!
A large bulk of operations that require 48V also need lights. For example, forklifts that run on 48V need notification lights, a warning laser for safety and spot lights for navigation around the warehouse.
Everyday consumers now have access to 48V batteries; and could meet such power requirements easily with four, 12V batteries.
For individuals concerned about voltage compatibility issues and the lack of 48V products on the market, Larson Electronics provides a selection of lighting systems and products that operate on 48V!
Such products include compact vehicle lights that are powered by LEDs. These units can be mounted easily on marine vessels and emergency vehicles via brackets or stud mounts.
For permanent lighting requirements, check out our linear LED fixtures that run on 48V DC. The luminaries are waterproof, vapor proof and shock resistant for use in rugged environments!
We also carry 48V AC/DC explosion proof string lights for temporary tasks in hazardous locations. Featuring multiple lamps in a string configuration, the luminary can be mounted on a wide range of surfaces and openings using sturdy C-hooks at each light head.
