The Larson Electronics SPLED-5 Solar Powered LED Light is an ideal lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable.
This solar powered LED light is fully automatic and powered by one 8aH sealed lead acid battery that is recharged by a 30 watt solar panel. Light output comes from a 5 watt LED lamp that produces 500 lumens. This solar panel comes equipped with manual on/off toggle switch, a motion detector, a day/night sensor, or a day/night sensor with motion detector. The on/off switch will activate and shut off the light fixture according to the operator`s preference. The motion detector will only activate the light when motion is detected. The day/night sensor will only operate the light when daytime illumination falls below a specific lux level, which is adjustable on the photocell. The day/night and motion sensor is programmed to active the solar panel in the evening and to shut it off during the day while the motion sensor will activate the panel upon detecting motion.

The light runs for 8 hours when the battery is fully charged. The sealed lead acid battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the light. Charging time for the battery is 5 hours when exposed to direct sunlight. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. When ambient light levels drop below a certain level, such as on cloudy days, the unit will not recharge. The light produced by the SPELD-5 will cover an area 35’L x 35’W when mounted 12 feet from the ground. Mounting options include the ability to attach the fixture to flat surfaces such as walls or round/square pole mounting such as on flagpoles or structure supports.
Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied and emit light. With LED lights, there is no warm up time or cool down time before re-striking and provide instant illumination when powered on, adding to the reliability of LED technology. By nature, LED light sources run significantly cooler than traditional lamps, reducing the chance of accidental burns and increased temperatures due to heat emissions. This solid state design of light emitting diodes provides a more reliable, stable, durable, and energy efficient light source over traditional lighting.
Larson Electronics has further upgraded the options available with this light. A two foot extension cord connects the solar panel to the LED light, allowing the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight while the light is mounted in a workspace. The cord between the light and panel ends in Deutsch connectors, allowing an optional longer extension cord to be attached, increasing the distance the light can be installed from the panel. Optional longer extension cords are available at additional cost. Larson Electronics can also configure this light for special requirements including different lights and larger batteries.
Suggested uses for this light include both commercial and industrial applications as well as consumer based installations. This light is ideal for boat docks, remote locations that rely on batteries for power, exterior outbuilding lighting, hunting cabins, parking areas, sign or entryway illumination, driveway lighting and anywhere a standalone lighting solution is needed.

3 year warranty replacement on this LED light. After 30 days, the customer ships the failed LED light and/or LED bulb to Larson Electronics at their expense. If the failure is a manufacturer defect, we will ship a new replacement to the customer. If failure occurs within 30 days of receipt, Larson Electronics will provide a return label via email to the customer. When the failed light is returned, Larson Electronics will ship a new replacement.
