Made in the USA

The HAL-PRM-400W-MH from Larson Electronics is a Metal Halide Hazardous Area Light Fixture that produces 34,000 lumens of light capable of illuminating an area 18,000 square feet in size. Weatherproof and U.L. listed for marine use, this metal halide fixture is a versatile and ideal exterior lighting solution for both Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C & D hazardous areas as well as non-hazardous locations.

***PLEASE NOTE: ANY FREE SHIPPING OFFERS DO NOT APPLY TO THIS LIGHTING SYSTEM***

The versatile, multi-use HAL-PRM-400W-MH metal halide fixture from Larson Electronics is weatherproof and suitable for use in outdoor marine applications, making it an ideal lighting solution for industrial applications, boat docks, building exteriors and outdoor work areas. The lamp housing is weatherproof and constructed of die cast aluminum featuring a hinged, removable front-access door with two captive closure screws for easy servicing. The optical assembly includes a precision-formed aluminum reflector and a thermal shock, impact-resistant lens. This metal halid light fixture also features continuous silicon gasketing, corrosion resistant external hardware and a trunnion mounting bracket with stainless steel hardware for mounting.

The aluminum reflector has a chemically bonded, lightweight, non-breakable ALGLAS® finish on both the inside and outside surfaces providing corrosion resistance, durability and ease of cleaning. The optical assembly contains a mogul base socket capable of handling the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems. Bulb is not included with with this fixture.

This hazardous area light is U.L. rated Class I Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D and suitable for wet locations with IP66 and NEMA 4X ratings. The integral pulse start ballast is protected within the weatherproof housing and operates on 120-277V AC voltages. This lamp is suitable for use in areas where flammable petrochemical vapors are sometimes present. The multi-purpose design of this fixture makes it a popular choice for industrial applications regardless of whether the locations are designated hazardous or not.

This light is highly durable, produces high light output in a wide flood pattern and operates effectively at temperatures to -20 degrees F. Mounting is via an adjustable coated steel trunnion bracket that allows the fixture to be attached to walls or ceilings and provides secure adjustment and positioning. All hardware on this unit is corrosion resistant and the die-cast aluminum exterior has an electro-coat dark bronze paint finish. Wiring is through a convenient wiring box located on the bottom of the heavy duty housing which has a 3/4" NPT conduit entrance.

LAMPS: Use only lamps specified on nameplate. Bulb not included with fixture. Observe lamp manufacturer`s recommendations and restrictions on lamp operation, particularly ballast type, burning position, etc.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS This floodlight is provided with a trunnion bracket which can be mounted directly on flat surfaces or building fronts. The trunnion bracket has a clearance hole for a 3/4-inch bolt used for attachment for such mountings. The 1/2-inch holes on either side permit additional anchoring, where required. Tighten side trunnion bolts to 18 - 22 foot pounds.

AIMING: Slightly loosen bolts "A" (two on trunnion) and tilt luminaire to desired position and retighten bolts.

LAMPS: Use only lamps specified on nameplate. Bulb not included with fixture. Observe lamp manufacturer`s recommendations and restrictions on lamp operation, particularly ballast type, burning position, etc.

LAMP TIGHTNESS: Mogul Base Lamp: The lamp should be securely inserted to the NEMA-EEI specified torque of 35 inch-pounds which is best achieved by very firmly tightening to insure application of sufficient torque. Tightening must be sufficient to fully depress and load the center contact of the socket.

WIRING: Make all electrical connections in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any applicable local code requirements. Verify that supply voltage is correct by comparing it to nameplate. Three-conductor No. 14 cable (with 90°C minimum insulation) is recommended for making electrical connections to the P-154. Wiring is accomplished through the wiring box provided on the fixture. The box is provided with a size 3/4" NPT threaded conduit opening. Wiring methods must comply with NFPA 70 (The National Electrical Code), Article 501 for Class I, Division 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations. To get inside the unit, open the door, loosen the (2) screws holding the reflector and remove the reflector. Verify the correct supply voltage and lamp wattage.

08/16/16How Much Light is Enough Light

Lighting choices vary, depending on the needs of the applicable location and personal preferences of individuals in the area. A “one size fits all” solution is rarely available when determining the lighting requirements of multiple environments. For example, lighting configurations for an office may differ, compared to a packaging warehouse. Even if the two facilities were the same size, the type of work being carried out in the buildings dictate the properties or characteristics [...]

02/16/16Lumen vs Foot-Candles – Which Is More Accurate for Measuring Illumination?

When a customer is looking for lights, the most common question posed is “how bright is this light?” As lighting technology improves, the standard measurements of illumination aren’t always the most accurate in calculating a light’s output. Understanding how each rating is determined will help you choose the best fixture for an application. [...]

01/28/14The Future of Lighting: No More Lamp Servicing or Maintenance?

While on the one hand we are seeing a shift towards an integrated LED lamp/fixture modality, there does exist the potential for a “modular” approach to LED manufacture. This sounds contradictory, but let us explain in a little more detail. While an integrated LED/fixture design is indeed the probable route of future lighting design, the actual totality of an LED based luminaire is based on a combination of several distinct parts or “modules”. LEDs themselves are only represented by the “chip”; t [...]

Without an understanding of why equipment approved for hazardous locations is required, it is nearly impossible to properly protect against the dangers hazardous locations present. Confined spaces represent some of the most dangerous work places in commercial industries.
