The EPSLED-80-AVL-SOL-20C-C1D2-20C-AT-DNS Solar Powered Explosion Proof LED Strobe Light from Larson Electronics is a reliable lighting solution for remote areas and standalone applications where connection to external power is either impractical or unavailable. This 7-watt strobe lamp offers 360 degrees of illumination and is protected by a cage guard. Charged by a Class I, Division 2 solar panel, four 12V AC 18aH sealed lead acid batteries provide constant, reliable power to the LED strobe light. This unit comes with an explosion proof day/night sensor and a programmable timer for automated operation.
The EPSLED-80-AVL-SOL-20C-C1D2-20C-AT-DNS is a sustainable LED strobe lighting solution for aviation operations, helipads, offshore/onshore rigs, hazardous locations and remote sites. This explosion proof 7-watt lamp operates on 12V DC and features a strobing flash lighting configuration, at a rate of 4 strobe counts per second. Charged by the Class I, Division 2 rated solar panel, four 12V AC 18aH sealed lead acid batteries provide constant, reliable power. The batteries, 24V Class I, Division 2 charge controller and battery disconnect are contained within a NEMA 4X remote enclosure and must be installed within a Class I, Division 2 environment. A 20` photovollic cable between the enclosure and light fixture allows for easy mounting of the panel and control box.

The control box is equipped with an explosion proof day/night sensor, which is programmed to activate the LED strobe light in the evening and shut it off during the day. During the day, solar panels are at peak usage, delivering power to the batteries.
This solar-powered LED strobe light is constructed of cast aluminum with a polyester powder coated finish. The IP67-rated unit comes with a T3C temperature rating. Designed for extreme work sites such as aviation facilities and oil/gas operations, the LED strobe lamp is UL tested to withstand 1,490 lbs.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.
LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. Solid state LED lighting is also safer for the environment as LEDs are 100% recyclable. And recycling simultaneously reduces operating costs by eliminating the need for the expensive special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.
Timer: This explosion proof LED strobe light contains a programmable timer, which comes with 16 on/off week or day settings and a range of 1 minute to 168 hours. Key buttons on the unit includes: clock, timer, H+, M+, manual override and reset. A keyboard locking feature prevents tampering by locking the unit after 30 seconds of no activity. An accessible LCD screen allows operators to make quick adjustments to settings and configurations on the timer. This component is powered by a rechargeable battery, with an average standby time of 60 days.
Power/Wiring: This EPSLED-80-AVL-SOL-20C-C1D2-20C-AT-DNS is powered by four 12V AC 18aH sealed lead acid batteries that are recharged by the solar panel. These rechargeable batteries provide a continuous supply of steady, reliable power. The lead acid battery pack is contained within the solar panel, not the light. This fixture ships with 20 feet of 10/2 SOOW cord that connects the explosion proof strobe light to the solar panel. Custom lengths are available upon request. Charging time for the battery bank is 5 hours when exposed to direct sunlight. As with all solar powered equipment, charging time is affected by the amount of available ambient light. Indirect sunlight and low ambient light levels, such as on cloudy days, will extend the charge time.
Mounting: The EPSLED-80-AVL-SOL-20C-C1D2-20C-AT-DNS features an inverted pendant mount for compatible surfaces, walls or ceilings. This mounting configuration ensures maximum visibility of the explosion proof LED strobe fixture.
NOTE: Larson Electronics has further upgraded the options available with this light. We expect the light to be mounted separately from the panel. This means the solar panel can be mounted in direct sunlight (not in the hazardous area) while the light is mounted in a hazardous area workspace. Standard installation for explosion proof lighting, including threaded rigid pipe to the LED light fixture and appropriate seal-offs, etc. are required.
