The portable power distribution system gives operators the ability to power their 120 volt equipment from a single system. On the primary side, operators connect 240 volt line-in power via 50` of Type W cord. On the secondary side, operators connect to five 20-amp, 120V explosion proof receptacles for 120V equipment.
For increased reliability during operation, line-in power as well as connections between the disconnect and transformer and between the transformer and secondary panel consist of heavy-duty SOOW cords.
Operation: A 50` Type W line-in cord brings 240V single-phase power to the 80-amp rated 240V Class I, Division 1 & 2 disconnect and passes the current to the 15 KVA explosion proof transformer. Liquid-tite flexible cord connects the primary panel to the transformer. The Class I, Division 1 & 2 15 KVA transformer converts 240V single-phase power to 120/240V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. Liquid-tite flexible cord connects the transformer to the secondary panel. The secondary side of the explosion proof transformer feeds a 62.5-amp rated 120/240V single-phase main lug Class I, Division 1 & 2 panel. This secondary panel contains five 20-amp breakers protecting five 20-amp, 120V, 5-15/5-20R explosion proof receptacles. The receptacles are mounted to an aluminum back plate for easy connection for equipment in the field. All receptacles are equipped with weatherproof covers.
Protective Construction: Unlike many portable power distribution boxes made of plastic and utilizing thin gauge, low grade metals in their construction, this unit is designed for serious use and is ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding conditions and heavy duty industrial applications. The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a non-sparking aluminum mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to the standard 2" x 2" square non-sparking aluminum tubing frame, resulting in an extremely stable, durable and well protected power distribution platform. This model is equipped with forklift skid pockets, non-sparking locking casters, and four, top located lifting eyelets at every corner allows easy lifting with cable or chain hooks. This can be replaced with stainless steel or hot dip galvanized steel depending on the customer’s needs for an additional cost. Larger units are available upon request and can be equipped with skids or trailer mounted.
Certification: Larson Electronics is a UL 1640 panel shop and certified to build portable power distribution systems. All units are built in accordance to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and certified to UL 1640. All equipment is NEMA 3R rated for indoor and outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against dirt, water, and ice. NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X equipment can be equipped upon request.
Grounding: Transformer is grounded to the frame and we provide a grounding lug on the frame for the earth ground. ~Please check all motor loads for dual rated motors that will work 208 or 240.~
Applications: This power distribution system is designed for indoor and outdoor use in hazardous location areas for shipyard, plant maintenance and construction applications.
