LED Retrofits & Upgrades
Our industrial LED retrofits and upgrades are compatible with traditional style metal halide, high pressure sodium and halogen fixtures, making upgrades extremely easy and quick. Switching from older style units to LED fitted bulbs and fixtures can not only save money, but can be done a few fixtures at a time if necessary.
Our retrofit bulbs are ideal because they allow operators to replace only the lamp technology and not the entire fixture itself. We offer tube lights, dimmable remote-controlled fixtures, color changing lights as well as flood lights for a wide range of fixtures for the many industrial and commercial applications that require them. Our LED bulb replacements are designed to fit in standard light bulb sockets and provide durability, multi-color options, and rough service, ideal for hazardous conditions. Our A19 LED bulbs have the exact same base and dimensions as a standard A19 incandescent bulb, meaning they can be easily installed and used as replacements for household incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. Our LED fluorescent tube replacements have been designed specifically for our own explosion proof light fixtures, but can be used to upgrade any T-series fixtures already in house, and any other standard fluorescent light fixtures.
An extensive line of upgrade fixtures for retrofits include traditional LED wall packs, canopy lights, wall washers and garage lights. These upgrades provide more durable and long-lived alternatives to traditional halogen and metal halide units. With the same look and mount as traditional fixtures, they can be easily installed and produce substantial light without the high heat, fragile construction, or high energy costs.
At Larson Electronics, we do more than meet your lighting needs. We also provide replacement, retrofit, and upgrade parts as well as industrial grade power accessories. Our craftsmen can custom build any lighting system and/or accessories to fit the unique demands of your operation. A commitment to honesty, quality, and dependability has made Larson Electronics a leader in the lighting and electronics business since1973. Importance of Solid-state Lighting in Indoor Commercial Horticulture
The success of commercial horticulture, or the practice of growing crops and optimizing plant growth for profit, is highly dependent on the latest lighting technologies available in the market today, such as solid-state luminaries (LEDs). [...]
Addressing Flicker Issues with LEDs and Photography
The widespread adoption of LEDs can be seen in professional film-making and photography. Both industries benefit from the modern luminaries’ sturdy, compact and energy efficient features. With focus on photography, the demanding requirements of shooting under artificial lighting systems have caused some issues to surface. [...]
Lumen Recommendations for Common and Industrial Work Spaces
Light brightness requirements for common and industrial spaces differ greatly. To achieve consistent, bright environments, the fixture’s luminous flux (or lumen [lm], which is the SI unit of luminous flux) must be taken into consideration. By definition, the term “luminous flux” (lx) refers to the total amount of light energy emitted from a fixture in all directions. [...]
Retrofit Wall Packs: Why Upgrading to LED is Beneficial
Wall pack lighting systems that use traditional light sources often fail to meet the expectations of large businesses. The type of fixtures that are typically deployed for such locations are high intensity discharge (HID) lamps, which are known to support outdated technology for light production. [...]
Replacing Standard T12 Fixtures with LEDs
Incandescent T12 bulbs are being phased out on a federal level by the US Department of Energy. The agency implemented a restriction on the manufacturing and importing of inefficient T12 lamps of various models and sizes, such as standard four-foot T12 units, eight-foot variants and two-foot models typically found in commercial establishments. [...]
Replacing PAR 38 Bulbs with LEDs
Eave mount lights are found around homes and businesses for security lighting. The fixtures are typically installed in the part of the roof that meets or overhangs the walls of the building. Because they are considered to be one of the most used exterior lights in a busy facility, it is important to keep the units working efficiently, in order to reduce the possibility of break-ins from intruders. [...]
Transitioning to LEDs- Direct Fits vs Bypass
The adoption of light-emitting diode (LED) technology requires businesses to upgrade existing fluorescent fixtures in the building. Manufacturers are facilitating this transition by offering seamless replacement options for buyers. [...]
Why Dimming Bulbs Don’t Always Dim to Zero Percent
Dimming is a functionality that is highly valued by individuals who are interested in custom lighting systems. Setting up smooth dimming features can be a daunting task, because there are several factors to take into consideration. Fixture-to-dimmer compatibility, electrical configurations and personal dimming preferences are just some issues that individuals must conquer when installing light dimmers. [...]
Options for Synchronizing Color Changing Bulbs
Individuals who are interested in color and light synchronization solutions may choose from several configurations to meet the needs of the location. This article covers the mechanisms of three lighting control systems for RGB bulbs, and their application in various lighting environments. [...]
What is Nominal Length of LED Tubes?
Nominal sizes serve as “general descriptions” for lighting manufacturers when identifying a range or category of products. The nominal size of a unit is typically not the same as the exact measurement of the product. Instead, the nominal size can be referred to as a standardized dimension for a set of or several units in the same series. [...]
Defining Daylight White
When optimizing lighting conditions for a specific location, one must take intensity and light color into consideration. One of these options is daylight white, or the natural lighting conditions of outdoor environments during a sunny day. [...]
What Happens to LED Lights in a Vacuum?
Successful NASA projects revealed that LED lights work in space. In fact, according to Robert Frost, instructor and flight controller in NASA, astronauts use a wide range of lights in space, including incandescent bulbs on space suit helmets and high intensity metal halide spotlights on the International Space Station. [...]
Replacing Pool Lights with LED RGB Lights
The most common type of LED RGB pool light available in the market today is the Parabolic Aluminized Reflector (PAR) bulb. Such bulbs closely resemble traditional, screw-in type pool fixtures with an Edison base. Transitioning from incandescent pool bulbs to PAR LED RGB bulbs is as simple as removing the old unit and replacing it with the new one (no re-wiring required). [...]
