Some work locations and facilities can benefit from cutting-edge LED lamps more than others, such as hospitals and emergency healthcare buildings. In those facilities, lighting must cater to both professionals and patients. Furthermore, numerous lighting systems are left activated for long periods of time, in some cases longer than 24 hours.
Lighting Levels, Performance and Glare
The required illuminative properties of LED lamps inside hospitals vary, depending on the activities conducted inside the rooms. For instance, in doctor’s offices and waiting areas, 150 lux is recommended. By comparison, locations in the building where work takes place must have more powerful illumination. First-aid wards, operating room tables and delivery beds inside maternity wards should have at least 5,000 lux and a maximum of 10,000 lux.

Recessed LED panel fixtures are the most common types of LED work lights in hospitals. These systems are ideal for general rooms, lobbies, waiting areas, patient rooms, hallways and more.
Rooms where work is facilitated, which can include consultations, operations and
administration of medical assistance, should utilize specific types of lamps. An example of this is an LED operating room lamp with an arm and swivel mounting component used for surgeries and general check ups.
In parking lots and outdoor sections of hospitals, LED street lamps mounted on poles can be installed in the area. For energy efficient operation, the powerful units could be equipped with motion sensors or timers for autonomous operation.
