is no ballast in this unit and the included LED T-series lamps have a 50,000+
hour service life, both of which result in extreme efficiency, cooler operation
and greatly reduced maintenance costs. The solid state design of the LED lamps
give this fixture superior resistance to damage from vibrations and extremes in
temperature as well as a lamp service life over twice that of standard T8 bulbs.
The lamps are protected by heat and impact resistant Pyrex tubes which provide
added security against impacts and overspray. The light fixture is constructed
of copper free aluminum alloy and the entire unit ships with a 50' SOOW cord and

Voltage Drop in Low Voltage Lighting Systems
Because of the risks associated with flammable gases, dusts, and particles in hazardous work areas, low voltage lighting systems are a natural choice to increase safety in areas where the potential for combustion exists. This becomes especially challenging when lights must be run at long distances with limited power sources. Low voltage systems typically run on 12-24 volts DC, but even within this lower range, a precise balance between distance, wattage load, and correct wire gauge must be [...]
Benefits and Applications of Explosion Proof LED Lighting in Confined Spaces
The complex and hazardous nature of confined spaces present numerous risks for workers. Because of this, many businesses that operate in hazardous locations make use of explosion proof lights to prevent the ignition of flammable gases and dust particles. LED technology has contributed to the features of explosion proof lights by making them more reliable, sturdy and cost-effective. [...]
Paint Spray Booth Lighting: Why Use Third Party Booths?
In order for a spray booth to be truly effective however, it must have the correct lighting. While at first glance booth lighting might not seem like such an involved subject, a closer look at just what constitutes effective spray booth light reveals a different and more complex appearance. Booth lighting is critical because it directly affects the ability of the operator to apply a quality finish. Good lighting allows an operator to easily note variations in finish color as well as finish text [...]
The Future of Lighting: No More Lamp Servicing or Maintenance?
While on the one hand we are seeing a shift towards an integrated LED lamp/fixture modality, there does exist the potential for a “modular” approach to LED manufacture. This sounds contradictory, but let us explain in a little more detail. While an integrated LED/fixture design is indeed the probable route of future lighting design, the actual totality of an LED based luminaire is based on a combination of several distinct parts or “modules”. LEDs themselves are only represented by the “chip”; t [...]
Basics of Hazardous Location Confined Space Lighting
The terms explosion proof and intrinsically safe refer to different types of electrical equipment which have been designed specifically to be used in locations where potential flammable or explosive atmospheres are present. Explosion proof equipment is generally higher powered and designed to prevent any ignitions within the lamp from igniting the atmosphere outside the lamp. Foe example, if gases enter into the lamp housing and are ignited by a spark, the lamp contains the ignited gases long e [...]
Savings and Incentives for Lighting Upgrades
The incandescent light bulb will be obsolete for all but the most minor lighting applications, LED lighting will have the lion’s share of the lighting markets, and energy efficiency standards and alternative lighting technologies will continue to evolve and grow as well. [...]
Basics of Selecting Effective Paint Booth Lighting
The lighting of choice for most paint booths is standard four foot long fluorescent bulbs, usually arranged in fixtures containing either two or four bulbs grouped together. Fluorescents are popular because they produce a very wide spread of light output, which helps to evenly and uniformly illuminate the irregular surfaces of vehicles and thus better reveal imperfections in the surface to be coated. Fluorescent lamps are also popular because they can be had in a variety of color temperatures, w [...]
LED Lighting Development: The Future of Lighting is Now
Since LEDs first became viable as an effective general use luminary about ten years ago, improvements in LED technology have advanced at a rapid pace. Initially considered to produce too little output for general lighting applications and plagued by problems with color quality and high costs, LEDs have now reached the point of surpassing most common types of light sources in terms of efficiency and output as well as light quality. [...]
Choosing Spray Paint Booth Lighting and Booth Design
A poorly lit paint booth with weak ventilation will lead to poorly matched colors and lots of finishing work to deal with paint contaminants. So, it’s best to be realistic and have a few solid ideas of what you are looking for in a paint spray booth in order to ensure that your new booth is all asset and no liability. [...]
Paint Spray Booth Lighting Fundamentals
Of huge importance to paint spray booth applications is the safety regulation compliance of the lighting equipment and its suitability for use in a hazardous environment. Due to the flammable nature of the chemicals and compounds used within the booth, removing potential sources of ignition is critical. Since any electrical equipment used is a potential source of heat, sparks or flame, it must be properly designed and certified for use in hazardous locations. Paint spry booth lighting that is mo [...]
Combustible Dust Standards and Preemptive Safety
As of this writing, OSHA has yet to institute a solid set of standards for combustible dusts. Many officials adopt NFPA recommendations into their local fire codes as a result in order to attempt some level of regulatory standards across a broad spectrum. Whether or not any meaningful regulation emerges from OSHA in the near future, it is best that any industry or commercial operation associated with combustible dusts be preemptive and adhere to any local regulations as well as adopt their own m [...]
Effectively Lighting the Hazardous Enclosed Workspace
Confined space lighting must also provide the widest possible coverage of the workspace and be bright enough and of high enough quality to allow trouble free visual determinations. Colors need to be rendered correctly and light levels must be high enough to allow normal activity without the need for compensation through slowed operations and overly repetitive verifications. Other considerations for confided space lighting include keeping heat production to a minimum, hands free operation, durabi [...]
LED Fluorescent Tube Fixtures: Efficiency Beyond Lumens vs Watts
LEDs retain several distinct advantages over fluorescent lamps. LEDs do not require any ballast for their operation. Using entirely solid state electronics, the current and output of LEDs can be easily regulated and maintained. There is no initial startup or warm up period normally associated with ballast equipped luminaries. [...]
Infrared Light and CCD Based Digital Cameras
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
How Do You Know If a Light is really Explosion Proof?
Hazardous location lighting equipment is in the simplest explanation used in places where concentrations of volatile gases, flammable dust or particulates, or flammable chemicals are high enough to present a danger of ignition that can lead to explosion or fire. [...]
Spray Booth Lights: Which Type for Best Results?
Most paint spray booths utilize one of two types of lighting fixtures in their design, either fluorescent tubes, or high intensity discharge lamps. Incandescent lamps are poor choices for spray booth applications because they are highly inefficient, have very short life-spans, and produce copious amounts of heat during their operation. [...]
Confined Space Lighting for Hazardous Locations
Confined spaces represent some of the most dangerous work places in commercial industries. Because of their enclosed nature confined spaces are poorly ventilated and allow volatile gases, fumes, vapors, and particulates to accumulate and increase in atmospheric density to potentially explosive levels. Confined spaces represent a hazardous work area and are loosely defined by a few general characteristics. [...]
