The LED40W-PAR46 40 watt Par 46
replacement LED bulb from Larson Electronics is an excellent choice for
upgrading existing PAR 46 incandescent bulb fixtures to LEDs as well as a direct
replacement for our own LED light fixtures.
Government Part Number 12543890 (US Army). MILSPEC
This 40 watt LED bulb is a direct
replacement for incandescent Par46 bulbs and produces 3600 lumens of light with
a color temperature of 6000k in white configuration. Also available in red,
blue, green, amber, 850Nm and 940Nm infrared colors, this Par46 LED bulb has
performance comparable to most incandescent Par46 bulbs. Capable of operating
with voltages of 9 to 46 VDC. This 40 watt Par46 LED is an ideal replacement or
upgrade for pre-existing, semi-permanent mount and handheld military lighting
fixtures and spotlights as well as aircraft, security and industrial
applications utilizing Par46 lamps.
This Par46 LED bulb provides
numerous benefits and advantages over traditional incandescent lamps in that it
is highly resistant to damage from shocks and vibration as well as up to 80%
more efficient. The LEDs in this unit have an average lifespan rating of 50,000
hours, which reduces the costs and loss of productivity associated with
maintaining and replacing traditional lamps. Producing 3600 lumens while drawing
only 4 amps, this LED lamp easily outperforms 100 watt incandescent bulbs while
drawing only half as many amps. There is no glass or filaments used in the
construction of this LEB bulb and the aluminum body and solid state design of
the LEDs results in a lamp that is as rugged as it is efficient.

LED40W-PAR46 is certified Mil Spec 461 for EMI and is listed under Army part
#12543890. This Par46 LED lamp is a direct replacement for incandescent Par46
bulbs and operates with 9 to 46 VDC, making it suitable for use in
vehicles, military transports, aircraft, boats and any equipment or vehicle that
operates with 9-46 VDC electrical current. This lamp is also suitable for use in
portable and semi-permanent mount applications requiring a Par46 lamp capable of
operating with DC current. 6 inches in diameter and containing four 10 watt
LEDs, this LED lamp produces as much or more light as a comparable 100 watt
Par46 spotlight but does not produce as tight of a beam.
The aluminum housing and polycarbonate lens provides unparalleled durability and
longevity, allowing this lamp to withstand conditions and use that would cause
ordinary incandescent lamps to fail prematurely. This Par46 LED light is also
available in infrared configuration for covert operations use and can be ordered
in either 850Nm for use with most older and more common night vision equipment
and 940Nm versions for use with the latest in military night vision technology.
Infrared versions produce no visible light and can only be seen with night
vision equipment and devices designed to work with light in the infrared

available are red, blue, green and amber versions, allowing operators to utilize
these LEDs in equipment designed for emergency, signaling, warning and other
applications. Colored versions of these lamps provide additional benefits over
incandescent lamps because there are no colored filters or lenses used to
produce colored light with these LED lamps. Instead, specific LED chip materials
are utilized to produce pure light in the desired color spectrum without any of
the loss of output normally associated with lenses, resulting in more and purer
light production. Additionally, there is no light degradation from the lens
discoloration and clouding that normally occurs over the life of lamps
with colored plastic lenses.

Alternatives to Incandescent Bulbs for Commercial and Industrial Applications
Because replacing entire fixtures in order to upgrade lighting represents a large initial expense, costs can be greatly reduced if only the lamp itself is replaced. This means finding an alternative that can work with standard fixtures and sockets intended for incandescent bulbs. Currently, there are two viable alternatives available, LEDs and CFLs [...]
Incandescent Bulb Phase Out Not a Light Bulb Ban
First and foremost, it needs to be reiterated that the phase out of incandescent light bulbs is not a ban. Although there is ample information available regarding the new efficiency standards lighting technology must meet in order to comply with federal and international legislation, there are still many who characterize the discontinuation of the incandescent bulb as a ban. The reality is that lighting manufacturers are free to produce incandescent bulbs of any wattage they desire and sell them [...]
LED Lighting and New Energy Policies Provide Opportunity for Savings and Increased Profit
Such examples are widespread and continue to grow in number as more business planners and lighting designers move to embrace LED lighting technology. Making the switch even more attractive are federal and state incentive programs that provide tax breaks, rebates, and assistance for businesses that wish to switch to energy efficient LED lighting. [...]
Options for Meeting the Lighting Requirements of the 2005 Energy Policy Act and the Energy Independence Act of 2007
These efficiency standards apply to more than just incandescent bulbs and will have an impact on all forms of lighting. As a result, it’s important that consumers begin looking ahead and planning a change to the more efficient lighting types that will soon be taking the place of less efficient forms that cannot meet the new standards. LEDs, high efficiency halogens, compact fluorescent, high output fluorescent tubes and electronically controlled fluorescent ballasts will soon represent the large [...]
LED Advances and World Acceptance
All over globe, LEDs are popping up everywhere. You can now find LEDs in traffic signals, parking lot lamps, shopping centers, ships and aircraft and industrial manufacturing facilities just to name a few of the most popular applications. In cities and states across the US, reports are appearing in the media that back up the energy efficiency potential of LEDs, with many companies and local governments reporting reductions in energy consumption of up to 70% in applications where a full [...]
Infrared Light and CCD Based Digital Cameras
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
LEDs: Good News in a Weak Economy
Due to the current weak economic climate there is an increasing emphasis on cost cutting and savings in the commercial and industrials sectors. Businesses are increasingly looking for ways to increase operating efficiency while also reducing costs, without negatively affecting their production levels or employee base. [...]
LED Efficiency Poised to Change How the World is Illuminated
Unless youve been living in a cave and have no idea what an electric bill looks like, youve likely heard about LED lighting. With some suggesting that this technology has the potential to actually change the world, LEDs have in a short amount of time become an everyday household word. Its entirely possible that within the next ten years we may be wondering how we ever got by without them. [...]
LEDs vs CFLs: No Compromise Necessary
With the current trends in energy efficiency and conservation presenting a persistent and important presence on the world stage, it is only natural that energy efficient forms of lighting technology continue to receive increasing scrutiny. With over 60 billion dollars per year spent in the U.S. alone on energy for lighting, it is clear that there is great opportunity for increased efficiency and savings. [...]
Unseen Benefits of LEDs
With all the excitement over the potential savings in energy and maintenance costs associated with LED lighting, its very easy to overlook some of the less obvious cost saving benefits they bring. Most of the focus on LEDs centers on their ability to produce light much more efficiently than traditional incandescent bulbs. Because incandescent bulbs create light by heating a filament with electrical current, much of the energy they consume is radiated as heat rather than light. [...]
The End of the Incandescent Bulb
In 1879 Thomas Alva Edison famously produced the first practical electric light bulb and transformed the entire world almost overnight. His design led to the first commercial power plants, the first electrical power grids, and changed how industry worked, and how private citizens lived their lives. Edisons commitment to bringing cheap electrical lighting and power to the public helped to usher in the technological age and forever changed the face of the world. [...]
