Light Features: Measuring 11.8” long with a 1.6” light head diameter and 1.2” handle diameter and weighing a mere 17.5 oz, the NSR-9850 multipurpose tactical flashlight is lightweight and easy to carry and maneuver. Its slim design means that it can be easily carried under the arm, used with one hand while the other hand is kept free, and tucked away in a glove box or beside the seat when not in use.
The housing and tail cap are constructed from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, and the bezel is crafted from 316 stainless steel. A Type III hard coat anodized finish provides corrosion resistance, heat and flame resistance, protection from heavy duty wear and tear as well as the ability to withstand impacts and vibrations. An anti-roll ring allows operators to set the light down without having to wedge it against an object to keep it in place. This tactical flashlight is IP67 rated waterproof and meets the requirements of NFPA-1971-8.6.
The flashlight mode provides a throw of over 900' with 650 lumens on the high setting, 300 lumens on medium, and 100 lumens on low. The floodlight, which is integrated into the side of the light housing and set at a 90° angle from the flashlight beam, provides 600 lumens of unfocused close range illumination that covers a larger area. The strobe feature generates 300 lumens. Dual flashlight/flood mode provides 600 lumens from both the flashlight beam and the integrated floodlight.
The first button located on the light body controls momentary or constant-on, flashlight high/medium/low settings and the strobe while the second button activates the floodlight mode. To use the dual flashlight/floodlight mode, simply choose the desired flashlight setting and then press the floodlight button.
LED Benefits: Unlike gas burning and arc type lamps that have glass bulbs, LEDs have no filaments or fragile housings to break during operation and/or transportation. Instead of heating a small filament or using a combination of gases to produce light, light emitting diodes (LEDs) use semi-conductive materials that illuminate when electric current is applied, providing instant illumination with no warm up or cool down time before re-striking. Because there is no warm up period, this light can be cycled on and off with no reduction in lamp life.
LED lights run at significantly cooler temperatures than traditional metal halide and high pressure sodium lights and contain no harmful gases, vapors, or mercury, making them both safer and more energy efficient. No extra energy is wasted in cooling enclosed work areas due to external heat emissions from bulb type lights, and the operator risks associated with traditional lighting methods, such as accidental burns and exposure to hazardous substances contained in the glass bulbs, are eliminated. Solid state LED lighting is also safer for the environment as LEDs are 100% recyclable. And recycling simultaneously reduces operating costs by eliminating the need for the expensive special disposal services required with traditional gas burning and arc type lamps.
Battery/Charging: The rechargeable lithium ion battery powers this light for up to 4.5 hours on high, 9 hours on medium, and 25.5 hours on low. Flood only and dual flashlight/flood modes have runtimes of 4.5 hours. The strobe feature will run continuously for 9 hours. The NSR-9850 is shipped with both an AC charger power supply and a vehicle mountable 12V DC charger. Recharging from a fully depleted state takes 6 hours
